SUMMARY:Thrive Alliance and the League of Women Voters: Pros and Cons Zoom Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Join Thrive Alliance\, the League of Women Voters of North & Central San Mateo County\, and the League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County for San Mateo County Ballot Propositions: Pros & Cons\, a nonpartisan look at what’s on your November ballot on Thursday\, October 8\, 1:00-2:30 pm. \nBallot propositions can be confusing\, and the ads and mailers rarely help. This session cuts through the noise. League speakers will break down each proposition in plain language: what it would do\, what happens if it passes or fails\, the strongest arguments for and against\, and who’s backing each side. Its Pros & Cons presentations have been a trusted\, nonpartisan resource for decades\, so you get the facts and make up your own mind. \nWhether you’re a first-time voter\, a nonprofit leader helping your community make sense of the ballot\, or someone who wants to feel ready before filling out your mail-in ballot\, this session is for you. Come with questions. We’ll leave time for Q&A at the end. \nThis presentation will cover the following propositions and measures: \n\nCA Propositions\nRegional Transit Measure\nCounty Measures\n\nRegister for the event here.

SUMMARY:Belle Haven Empowered: Kitchen Table Chat "Ballot Party" in Spanish

SUMMARY:League of Women Voters: Election Security and Accuracy
DESCRIPTION:How Secure Are San Mateo County’s Elections? Find Out from the Expert.\n\nElection security is one of the most talked-about issues in America today—and you have a rare chance to get answers straight from the source. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at how San Mateo County keeps our elections accurate and secure\, from voter registration to the final tabulated ballot.\n\nJim Irizarry\, San Mateo County Asst. Assessor-Clerk-Recorder & Asst. Chief Elections Officer\, will walk us through the systems and safeguards in place — the checks\, the technology\, and the procedures most voters never see — and then open the floor for your questions. Whether you’re curious\, skeptical\, or just want the facts\, this is your chance to ask directly.\n\nCome informed. Leave confident.\n\n\nAbout Jim Irizarry\nJim Irizarry is currently the Assistant Chief Elections Officer and Assistant Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder for San Mateo County. He has over 27 years of public-sector experience and has served as Assistant Chief Elections Officer since 2013.  \nAs the Assistant to Mark Church\, the County’s Chief Elections Officer and Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder\, Jim played an instrumental role in implementing San Mateo County’s historic All-Mailed Ballot Election in 2015\, California’s first countywide local consolidated election\, which led to the passage of the California Voter’s Choice Act in 2018. San Mateo County was one of five pioneering counties in California to conduct elections under the new law; Jim played a vital role in implementing this landmark legislation in San Mateo County.  \nThe California Voter’s Choice Act has been a complete success\, increasing voter turnout for all voters\, particularly for voters with disabilities\, youth\, and language minorities. With the completion of the September 14\, 2021\, California Gubernatorial Recall Election\, San Mateo County has held six elections under the Voter’s Choice Act\, establishing San Mateo County as a leader in California Vote-by-Mail elections. \n\nRegister for free here.
