East Palo Alto, CA (March 2025) – As the Ravenswood Business District development moves forward, local nonprofits Nuestra Casa, Climate Resilient Communities, and YUCA are taking center stage in addressing environmental contamination concerns that have long affected this East Palo Alto community, according to a recent Palo Alto Online report.

Nuestra Casa’s Environmental Justice Program is actively empowering residents by providing critical information about soil and groundwater contamination in the area. The organization serves as a vital connection between Spanish-speaking community members and technical environmental remediation information, ensuring inclusive participation in the development process.

The Ravenswood Business District project aims to revitalize this historically industrial area while properly addressing environmental justice concerns that have disproportionately impacted East Palo Alto’s predominantly minority neighborhoods for decades.

Local residents seeking more information about environmental justice in East Palo Alto can contact Nuestra Casa directly or visit the organization’s community workshops.
