The Ravenswood Business District/4 Corners Development is a proposal to create a new downtown area in East Palo Alto. Initially adopted by the City in 2013, the plan has evolved in size and includes a mix of office buildings, retail spaces, community areas, and housing, with expanded commercial office space and residential options. Part of the project will be located in “The Village,” a historically significant area for long-time residents.
A key component of this development is the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), which assesses the environmental impacts of the proposed project. The EIR helps identify ways to minimize or avoid environmental harm and suggests alternatives. The environmental impacts for the Ravenswood Business District will vary depending on the scenario chosen by the City. However, some impacts have been deemed significant and unavoidable (SU) for at least one scenario, meaning they cannot be mitigated below a specified threshold.
The City’s goals for the project include job creation, affordable housing development, and long-term fiscal stability for East Palo Alto. Additionally, the project emphasizes a vibrant community atmosphere with parks and open spaces, fostering a thriving, sustainable future.
